Half-Mourning Dress
1910-1912
The Victoria & Albert Museum

What’s a “half-mourning” dress?  Mourning in the front, party in the back?

Half-Mourning was the third stage of mourning for a widow. She would be expected to mourn her husband for at least two years, the stages being Full Mourning, Second Mourning and Half-Mourning. The different stages regulated what they would be wearing, with Full Mourning being all black and with no ornamentation, including the wodow’s veil, and the stages after that introducing some jewellery and modest ornamentation. When in Half-Mourning you would gradually include fabrics in other colors and sort of ease your way out of mourning.
Wow, I am happy you made that joke so I could interpert it as a serious question and have an excuse to ramble on about clothing customs of the past, I am a historical fashion nerd.

That’s very informative, but I’m going to stick with my original head canon:

I love both the informed fashion history and the hilariously off-the-wall halves of this post.

You complain about how life is so tough and how you're so alone, yet you sit on Tumblr all day instead of doing something with your life. Lol your pathetic. All you want is pity.

Okay listen, Anon.

I’m rarely on Tumblr. I usually have my Queue+ posting all day. I work full time, and attend university full time. I queue thousands of posts every weekend (it takes me like 5 minutes to do with Queue+), and let that run throughout the week.

I’m sorry for needing a place to vent and complain. For some reason, I thought this site was a place where people could be open about their feelings and thoughts. Guess I was wrong.

Honestly, It’s people like you who make it impossible for people to open up to others. It’s people like you who make me scared to make new friends.

Also, It’s you’re not your. So kindly fuck off and let me blog in peace :)

This honestly made me tear up. Imagining how great he must have felt that his planned worked and choosing that risk paid off.
I also feel like him and the model have such good chemistry, they’re always so kind and loving to one another.

Holy shit what did he do?? That’s rad as hell!

Since the runway was going to have simulated rain, he wanted to make the outfit become colorful because of it rather than deflect it. He sewed dye into the seams and once the rain hit it the dye ran! Very simple but super effective. He was one of the two winners of that challenge.

Absolutely brilliant. Holy shit.

Hey, White America, You Need To Hear What These Ferguson Kids Have To Say

In a new video from social justice-oriented T-shirt company FCKH8, several Ferguson children lampoon the excuses white people give to avoid getting involved in ending discrimination in America and deliver a call to action to stomp out racism.

Watch the full video and see these kids explain how racism is still a huge part of even getting an interview for a job.

THIS IS THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN
